Enedina Enriquez, DSW, LCSW-S

Psychotherapist

Dr. Enedina Enriquez is the founder of Kindred Spirit Latino Center for Grief and Loss, LLC. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Texas State Board Approved Clinical Supervisor with over 20 years of experience in social work and more than 11 years as a grief therapist. She provides services in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Enriquez earned her Doctorate in Social Work from the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work and holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pan American. Her clinical work is grounded in cultural humility and trauma-focused therapy.

Her research has explored how cultural norms can create barriers for Latinos in accessing mental health services. This work has led to the development of culturally sensitive approaches to grief and healing, particularly within Latino communities.

Therapy Philosophy

Dr. Enriquez believes that no one escapes loss. Loss can take many forms—relationships, friendships, divorce, health, disability, home, employment, death, and more. Grief is a natural response, but it is often the secondary losses that complicate the healing process.

I believe every story should have a happy ending. Life throws us many curves and sometimes we may not always have the tools to learn how to manage or overcome them. You are not alone and there is help. No matter how dark it may seem, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Together, the work, change of beliefs, change in thinking patterns, patience, and learning to use your strengths, positive change can occur.

Her style of therapy is gaining a deeper understanding defining the root of the problem. Like a tree, some roots that built our foundation may have guided us to develop negative ways of trying to survive. Learning to identify those roots may lead us to create positive change in your situation and utilize the strengths within you!

Clients will develop a deeper awareness of the challenging issues they face. They will begin to reflect and slowly recognize the areas they need to strengthen, grow and change to lead a happier life.

Therapy offers a space to understand how these losses impact our lives, to express and release distressing emotions, and to share our stories. Through this process, clients can take meaningful steps toward healing, growth, and reclaiming their lives.

What Inspires Me

My passion for this work is deeply personal. I’ve experienced many forms of loss—childhood abuse, observing and being present at the death of my loved ones, being diagnosed with a couple of chronic illnesses, loss of ability, divorce after 41 years, my identity, and my reputation. Yes, they destroyed me, broke me, and brought me to my knees, but I believed I deserved peace and healing. Therapy helped me grow, heal, and manage past trauma. It helped me become the person I was meant to be. Taking the first steps towards healing your trauma can feel overwhelming, scary, and often, painful. I will never regret seeking help for me!

These experiences shaped my commitment to helping others find their path towards healing. We have no control over anyone but ourselves. I can only change myself! I am the only one who can stop the self-sabotage, self-punishment, and eliminate the false beliefs I created in my head. Finding peace in the midst of the storm isn’t easy—but it’s worth fighting for.”
